Song Demo Production Workshop for Five-Week Students

Designed for students who have experience playing and recording music, the Song Demo Production Workshop for Five-Week Students will help you go hands-on and record an original demo this summer. Learn more about this exciting course and the application process below.

Course Description  

Producer and songwriter Crit Harmon will help you produce higher quality demos by learning established tricks of the trade, going hands-on with professional software like Pro Tools and Digital Performer, collaborating with other students using interconnected digital audio workstations (DAWs), and increasing your chances of success as a songwriter.

Course Requirements

In order to be eligible for one of the 12 spots available in this course, you must:

  • pay your balance in your student registration portal;
  • have experience recording with MIDI and/or audio into Pro Tools Logic or Digital Performer (the only DAWs available in this lab);
  • have performing skills on voice or instrument (keyboards, guitar, bass, voice, drums or drum programming, and working with loops, strings, woodwinds, brass, etc); 
  • have finished original songs to use for a demo project (a simple lead sheet or chord chart will be needed before the demo can be produced); and
  • be comfortable with technology.

How to Apply

Post a song online that demonstrates your use of a DAW and your performance skills. Please use Soundcloud or YouTube (a private link is fine), or another place where the instructor and screener will be able to hear the music. Include the link when you complete the form below.
