About the Program

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Commercial Dance Intensive explores the dance forms necessary for success in the entertainment industry, including jazz dance, hip-hop, and urban styles. Over three weeks, you’ll build versatile skills through focused study, master classes with acclaimed guest artists, and industry guidance on auditions, networking, and professional development. The program builds toward a final performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

All programs have limited capacity, so be sure to complete your full tuition payment to reserve your space in the program.
Step 3Request housing
If you will be age 15 or older by the start of your Boston-based program and require on-campus accommodations, complete the Residence Hall Agreement in the Next Steps tab of your registration portal.
Step 4Complete your next steps

Curriculum

Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s Commercial Dance Intensive is a cutting-edge, three-week summer program for dancers interested in exploring the world of commercial dance. Focused on dance for video, film, and live music concerts, you will explore various dance forms necessary to succeed in the industry, including jazz-funk, hip-hop, breaking/popping, urban dance styles, and lyrical jazz. You will also develop important portfolio-building skills, such as résumé creation.

Taught by Boston Conservatory’s renowned faculty and acclaimed guest artists who have performed with some of the biggest names in the industry, Commercial Dance Intensive gives you the opportunity to sample trademark elements of the Conservatory’s top-ranking dance BFA program: versatile skill-building and focused studies that pave a path for successful careers.

Each week, you will have the opportunity to interact personally with guest artists and receive valuable guidance from these industry leaders on audition techniques, networking, and dos and don’ts.

Performance Opportunities

The Commercial Dance Intensive will conclude at the end of the third week with a performance at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. The end-of-program performance will be open to all students, parents, faculty, and staff. This performance will be an opportunity to share what you have been working on over the course of your time with us. For friends and family who will not be able to join us in Boston, the concert will also be live-streamed.
